CAROLINE'S WORK EXPLORES  VISCERAL ENERGY USING NATURE OR HER OWN SYNTHETIC VERSIONS OF THE NATURAL ELEMENTS.

HER WORK HAS BECOME HER SURVIVAL TECHNIQUE. SHE DESCRIBES LIFE IN CITIES AS SYNTHETIC. CAROLINE FINDS THAT IT LEAVES THE HUMAN BODY NUMB.

HOW CAN WE CREATE SENSORIAL EXPERIENCES TO VISIT, WEAR, LIVE IN, OR AROUND TO COMBAT THE PHYSICAL NUMBNESS?

HOW CAN WE CREATE SENSORIAL EXPERIENCES TO VISIT, WEAR, LIVE IN, OR AROUND TO COMBAT THE PHYSICAL NUMBNESS?

Caroline is constructing experiences, building wearable tools, and igniting perhaps dormant visceral energies. Her mantra for the year is

CREATING MY SPACE // BUILDING MY PLACE

Her work truly began this past October during the week of Mirror Mirror. Caroline constructed her very first installation. Although she built it for herself, the reaction from her peers was the most notable part of her week. Many expressed how long it had been since they were barefoot on the earth. Others found the space brought emotion or memories they had long forgotten.

We don't realize how physically numb we become when we exist in these synthetic spaces. Caroline's work is combating this physical numbness. She aims to bring the self out of the mind, where we typically and solely exist, and back into the body.

Her methodologies include building sensorial experiences that transition from extreme stimulation to calm. It's the moment in between where visceral energy meets serenity that she finds the most beautiful and engaging.

Her medium is nature or her synthetic recreations of nature. There is already something so stimulating about natural things in synthetic spaces and visa-versa. Caroline tries to use this to her full advantage during her construction of experiences.

Her work was born out of necessity. She sees her creations as tools for her own survival. Looking forward, Caroline hopes to reimagine what it is to build an experience or moment.
